03.14.07 The prospect of this current acoustic tour made me concentrate on perfecting the amplified sound of my acoustic guitar. Anyone who has ever tried to amplify an acoustic instrument knows how frustrating that can be. I have been aided in my quest by two great Canadian companies. I have been experimenting with a number of acoustic amps for a few years and I have yet to find one that sounds better than the acoustic amps made by Traynor. They have been very generous and have supplied me with a Traynor AM100. It is a fantastic sounding little amp. One of the trickiest parts of amplifying an acoustic instrument is finding the right pick-up. Jeff Bird turned me on to Schatten Design pick-ups. I experimented by putting one in my Gibson J-200. It sounds so great that I have asked them to supply me with another pick-up so that I can install it in my J-45. I highly recommend both of these excellent companies if you are looking to amplify your acoustic instrument. - Mike Timmins |

02.01.07 The new CD is finished and will be appearing in stores and on your favourite download site on April 17 in North America and on April 10 practically everywhere else. We will, of course, also be selling it through the website (which helps us the most). The album is called "At the end of paths taken" and we think it is a swell piece of work. |

Safe, in my comfy, warm bed I read David Houghton's new book "The E.F.I. Club" about his marathon bike trip across Africa. By the end of the book I knew that the man who I had shared a stage with for all those shows and who had slept in the bunk below me over all of those miles, was truly insane. I couldn't help thinking back and wondering, "was he insane back then, or is this a new development?". "The E.F.I. Club" is an amazing book about a truly remarkable experience: pedaling a bicycle from Cairo, Egypt to Cape Town, South Africa. This is a journey that most of us soft Westerners would find difficult, if not impossible, in a Hummer, nevermind on a bicycle. A wondeful travelogue and adventure tale from the unique vantage point of a bicycle seat. You'll never find me complaining about those 24 hour bus trips again...much. (Michael Timmins) To read exerpts from the book and to order it on-line please go to www.theeficlub.com |

| 04.25.05 Back in December 2004, we travelled forty-some hours on planes and in cars to spend less than 24 hours in County Kerry, Ireland. It was all worth it as we got to do an intimate show in a teeny old church with sixty audience members and a few TV cameras. The show was part of RTÉ TV's Other Voices Series and our episode is being broadcast on RTÉ Two in Ireland on May 22nd. After its broadcast, the set will be archived for viewing on the station's web site. |

06.15.04
It has come to our attention that there has been some confusion about the pre-order of the new CD in the Junk Store. It seems that many of you expected to receive the CD before the release date, which was June 8th. We were not legally allowed to ship the CDs before that date. Additionally, there was an approximate two-day delay because of some customs importation problems. If you pre-ordered the CD and haven't yet received it, please log on to the maplemusic.com website and check to see when your order was processed. Also check which delivery option you picked. We're sorry for the packages that have been delayed, but everything has been shipped at this point. We will work with Maple Music to make sure the delays don't happen again. And while you're waiting for your CD, please remember that buying from Maple Music helps the band out the most. Thanks for your patience and understanding. |
