Santa Fe is our usual stop in these parts and it’s only an hour from Taos. By this point in our careers we have been through Santa Fe on numerous occasions and for some reason we often have a day off here (like this time). It’s a good little town in which to relax and recharge. There is lots of good eating and drinking spots, lots of museums and interesting stores and galleries and everything is accessible on foot. If you are in a mood for a peaceful stroll and some window shopping, this town can’t be beat. In the past I’ve railed on about this place (it is suffering from a serious case of Santa Fe-ville), but despite that it’s always a much anticipated and appreciated tour stop. The gig tonight was at the Lensic Theater, which is a beautiful little theater right in the heart of the town. We had a very good show but it was a peculiar audience: very Canadian in its detachment during the show, and very appreciative at the end. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s day off and game 5 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. ****** Oh man…three overtime periods in last nights game. Detroit deserved to win the game many times over, but it was not to be. The Penguins stay alive to play another day. We have only been through Albuquerque a couple of times over the years, so I have little insight in to the city. All I saw today in my brief walk through the streets was a whole lot of bars and not too much else. The gig tonight was at a beautiful “pueblo-deco” theater (The Kimo) in downtown Albuquerque: beautiful looking and beautiful sounding. We had another good gig and another very good audience. On another front, it was an exciting day to be in America, with Barack Obama clinching the Democratic nomination for president. No matter what your political leanings, this is a momentous occasion in American history and one that I never would have bet on happening in my lifetime. Now the gloves come off….let the games begin.
